2003 Château Margaux

Just as you would hope, the 2003 Margaux shows off the best attributes of the vintage while avoiding the hazards posed by the weather. In a year so hot that the vegetative cycle was blocked for up to 2 weeks, this shows a ripe raspberry nose - neither overripe nor vegetal. Aromatically voluminous and forthcoming, it’s unmistakably Margaux, layer after layer of elegant red fruited, rosy aromas unfolding. Lush and deep on the palate with velvety tannins, there’s really no appreciable sense of heat.
