2011 Château Mouton-Rothschild

Wow! A simply stunning wine only 7 years young but hugely approachable right now, possibly one of the best reds I have had to date, decanted for 3 hours tasted amongst a first growth lunch with 2011 Margaux and Haut Brion a 2002 Latour and a 1999 Lafite, for me easily the best of the bunch. The Haut Brion had shut down and the others were good but the Mouton was Wow!

What a delicious wine! And what an accessible wine this is too. A delicious chewy precocious Mouton with such refined tannins that it is eminently drinkable today. It is not as opulent, powerful or profound as the nine and ten but it is a drop dead gorgeous wine.
